ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research is to enhance the understanding of the “domestic violence abuser”. To realize how they interpret their own family process and the relationship between their family members. For such realization of this group of people will help the professional helpers including social workers and counselors to generate a reasonable cutting-in- point for treatment plans.
The main analyzing of the interview data are from the perspectives of Chinese cultural context and the family process. Thought the research focus on the internal interpretation on the so-call “domestic violence abuser” and their interactive relationship with their family members , the researcher tries to explain how these process contribute to the development of the domestic violence.
The researcher uses the qualitative method as interviewing three informants to collect data. During the process of collecting data uses the semi-structure questionnaire to help developing the interview and collect the narrative data from the identified “abusers ”. In analyzing data, the researcher uses the hermeneutic perspective to generate the understand of the context of data. As a result ,the researcher built up a framework of explanation by the way of structuralism.
The result and conclusions are as follows:
1. There is the phenomenon of “the family first than individual ” in the internal interpretation system of the “domestic violence abusers”.
2. In fact, the “domestic violence abusers” they put high value of the existence of family structure ,such as “family as a whole ” concept and they highly identify the family self.
3. They “domestic violence abusers” tend to interpret themselves as the meaningful supporting point of the the present family dynamics.
