DRAWING BASIC FORMS EFFECTS ON
FIRST AND SECOND GRADERS
CREATIVE THINKING
ABSTRACT
This study focuses on realizing the child’s concepts of the basic forms, and the ability of creative drawing, to foster the ability of drawing basic forms how to effect on young children’s creative thinking. 60 children from two different classes of the Da-Hsin Elementary school second graders in this study. There were been assigned to two groups: Experimental Group and Control Group. The Experimental Group was 30 children from the same class . The Control Group was 30 children from another class .
The children in Experimental Group were given the training of 「The Program of Training Creative Drawing on the Basic Shapes」. Children must take three times per week, 40 minutes for each time, lasted for eight week. While, the children in Control Group were not given the training of 「The Program of Training Creative Drawing on the Basic Shapes」.
Both of two groups were required to participate into the test of「The Inventory of Creative Thinking with the Basic Shapes」, which is designed for this study by the researcher. The children were asked to create drawing with a square□, a triangle△, a circle○. The data of all the children’s creative drawings was analyzed by using SPSS.
The result of this study points out that 「The Program of Training Creative Drawing on the Basic Shapes」effects on the children’s creativity. The children of Experimental Group significantly perform their creativity thinking than children of Control Group did. Finally, summary of this study is: Using the drawing program can stimulate and improve the children’s creative thinking skills, it shows a effective learning. Therefore, applying 「The Program of Training Creative Drawing on the Basic Shapes」can significantly promotes the children’s creative thinking skill.
The study will be a helpful reference in future research, and provide for someone who is interested in studying the children creative thinking with drawing.
