He had been appointed as the master sergeant in the military. Sun Guoh Tyng’s works in Shu Puu (Treatis on Calligraphy) are among his most famous and accurate. Not only is Shu Puu one of the most incredible books passed down from generation to generation it is also written in a script cursive style of calligraphy. Shu Puu‘s calligraphy theory has been widely used by generations of writers. Unfortunately, Shu Puu is missing parts of the preface. Sun Chyan-Lii’s theoretical calligraphy work contained six major viewpoints that were deeply influenced by Confucian theory. 1. The fundamentals of calligraphy are an impressionistic portrayal and lyrical expression of one’s feelings. 2. The personality of the writer can be seen in the penmanship of the calligraphy. 3. Pen craft consists of grip, stroke application, and structure. Preparations need to use the five contradictions and five unisons. The maturation of the art starts as underdevelopment moves to embellishment and then to discernment. 4. Through the biter hardships of practice, the study of theory and writing methods, and the knowledge of different styles. 5. In order to reach an esthetic sense of calligraphy one must write in moderation and accordance. 6. In the appreciation of calligraphy is hard to find a confident. One must be highly skilled and a critical thinker. Sun Guoh Tyng’s specialty in Shu Puu is his skillful writing technique and his inherit ability to use Wang His-Chih’s orthodox calligraphic style and method. Although his writing style is not very creative, but it is an excellent model for learning both Wang His –Chih’s and Wang Hsien-Chih’s calligraphic style. The calligraphic theoretical book “Shu Puu” not only conglomerates the theoretical knowledge of calligraphic learning, but also provides the new fundamental viewpoints to pass down. Shu Puu influenced the Chinese aesthetic sense of calligraphy thousands of years ago. In Chinese theoretical calligraphy history Shu Puu is an outstanding achievement. 鄭峰明 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 203 zh-TW
