The purposes of this study were to understand the correlation between environmental management and different ethnic residents’ mode of behavior in Pingtung County and to provide the references for the authorities in policy making. The author adopted random sampling and survey method to conduct this study and collected research data by questionnaire. The findings in this study were consistent with the results of E.P.A in an investigation. The findings in this study include the followings, firstly, most residents thought that the air quality needed to be improved most and then the river quality and garbage management (All of the three items’ percentage was over 40%.); secondly, In 2001 and 2002 survey, most residents thought that enhancing media propaganda guided people to understand the importance of healthy environment; thirdly, aboriginal residents had the most willingness to cooperate with the government, but urban residents’ had less willingness; fourthly, in The Program of Cleaning Community for P.T E.P.B , urban residents had lower cooperation, but Hakka residents and aboriginal residents had higher cooperation; however, after providing guidance and direction, all different ethnic residents were willing to improve environmental sanitation and to build a clean, and beautiful community.
