Thus, how to maintain or improve the supporting force and reliability of the road system to provide high quality transportation service and to increase economical development becomes an important research issue. The main purpose of this study was by mixing different materials into the asphalt concrete to evaluate the characteristics and effectiveness of preventing damages for these ingredients through various experiments. Three mixtures, the adding materials included rock flour, rock flour with lime, and rock flour with cement. Meanwhile, based on the code, the experiments might include many items such as basic physical properties of mastic asphalt and grain material, Marshall’s design method, immersion and boiling tests, stripping test, resilient modulus test, and rutting simulation test. From the analyzed experimental results, it could be found that a 1% mixture of lime or cement with rock flour did have a good performance to resist water erosion and to prevent pavement stripping. In particular, the lime was good filler which could increase the stiffness of asphalt concrete and enhance the pavement endurance to prevent stripping. Overall, the present experimental works were performed at laboratory which might have somewhat different from on-site test, but the obtained results might still provide a valuable reference for the road engineering designer and constructor. 柯亭帆 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 106 zh-TW |

Most of roads are paved by asphalt concrete in Taiwan area, but the phenomenon of rutting, cracking and stripping of the roads may occur due to the effects of traffic flow, thermal variation and raining erosion.
