Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東師範學院 === 國民教育研究所 === 91 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among elementary school principals'''' leadership traits, job stresses, and their methods of coping with them. Questionnaire was used to make survey on principals and teachers from 176 public elementary schools, consisting of 124 principals represented 70.45% of total 176 principals and 834 teachers represented 70.20% of total 1188 teachers among whom questionnaire were distributed. Data was analyzed using T-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson''''s product-moment correlation and Stepwise multiple regression. The major conclusions were: 1.The leaderships traits of elementary school principals were perceived positively by teachers. 2.When dealing with their school-related duties, principals perceived lowly job stresses coming from all quarters. 3.When the current elementary school principals facing the job stresses, the most often used adaptation strategy is “logic thinking”. 4.Teachers who had significant Difference on the principals'''' leadership traits since different years of serving and educational background. 5.The male principals who had 6-15 years of serving, in the city or town ,felt higher job stresses. 6.The principals who work 1-5 years of serving most often used adaptation strategy was“problem solution”. The principals in town most often used adaptation strategy was “search for support”. 7.The leaderships traits of elementary school principals were perceived more positively by teachers, the less job stresses the principals felt. 8.The more job stresses the principals felt, the more adaptation strategy the principals used. 9. The leaderships traits of elementary school principals were perceived more positively by teachers, the less job stresses the principals felt, and the less adaptation strategy the principals used.
