The purpose of this research was to help the school make guidance and counseling programs.The method of analyzing research and questionnaire were used in this research. All students, parents and teachers of a private comprehensive high school were selected as the subjects and asked to answer the self -designed questionnaire titled “ The guidance and counseling needs of comprehensive high school students ” . There were 1484 students, 1484 parents,and 60 teachers.3028 questionnaires were given out, 2427 were returned. The return from the students was 90.9%,from the parents 68.6%,and from the teachers 100%. 2346 questionnaires were effective.The gathered data were analyzed by several analytical statistic methods including descriptive statistics,Chi-square, average,standard deviation, percentage, raking, independent sample t test, one-way analysis of variance and Scheffe’s test. Ten outcomes were found as below : 1.Top 5 problems of students were “being unable to enter an ideal school after graduation, school records were bad, being unable to get a job after graduation, lacking of self-confidence, not knowing how to study effectively”. 2.There were significant differences among students, parents and teachers from student problems. 3.There were differences among different background students from their problems. 4.Top 3 student needs were “carrer counseling,academic guidance and emotional management”,parents thought they wer “academic guidance, carrer counseling and choosing course”,teachers thought they were “self exploring,academic guidance and emotional management”. 5.There were significant differences among students, parents and teachers from student needs.Teachers and parents tended to overestimate the level of student needs. 6.Needs of third-grade students were highest,followed by first-grade.Third-grade students need more help for career counseling and academic guidance,first-grade students need more help for choosing course. 7.Girl students needs were significant higher than boy students. 8.There was no significant difference from needs among different school-entrance students. 9.Different major students needs were different from” self exploring,academic guidance, emotional management,interpersonal communication and leisure life”,but there was no significant difference between each other. 10.Different type of problems would influence on students choosing the ways of counseling and help givers.Offering information and counselors were the most frequently mentioned sources of help for needs. Finally, based on the results of the research, suggestions were provided for school guidance and counseling programs and further research.
