Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 成人教育研究所 === 91 === Museum guides act as important bridges between audiences and exhibits. Among others, the professional competence is the key factor affecting the quality of guidance. In face of the knowledge expanding age, museum guides have to deal with various uncertainties arising from the needs of various groups of visitors. Therefore, it is quite important for museum guides to develop a talent of skilful presentation to evoke attentions, interests and pleasant feelings of visitors. This research is to establish some conceivable indexes of professional competence of museum guides with the aim to provide indicators for their professional training and self evaluation. Through literature analysis, curriculum analysis, and investigation of museums’ practices, an initial sketch of indexes was firstly formed. Having extensively discussed with sixteen experts, the contents of indexes were carefully revised and edited. Moreover, a questionnaire was designed for the purpose of gathering information of evaluations on the importance of each index from experts as well as museum guides. The questionnaires were distributed to sixteen experts and three hundred and thirty-three museum guides. Having received more than 58% of questionnaires in this survey, the t-test, one-way ANOVA, Cronbach’s , Scheff’s method, and post-hoc comparison method were used to analyze the returned data. The results of the analysis strongly suggest the following main points: 1.The listed 52 indexes of this work are positively correlated of each other. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire are so stable that the indexes seem to be worthy of construction. In addition, the factor loading of indexes is not less than 3.5 for each index; therefore, there is no need to exclude some indexes from the list. 2.For public museum guides, the professional attitude seems to be much more important than the professional knowledge and interpretation skills, as indicated in the analysis. 3.The effect of the educational degree and years of service experiences in the museum on the importance of index construction is not obvious. 4.Sexual differences, working positions and people of different age show remarkable differences in the evaluation of importance of indexes being constructed. 5.One of important findings derived from the present work is that sexual differences and working positions of docents in the museums reflect their needs for educational training. Finally, this research brings up some important subjects for future research: 1.In order to reach a more general result, researches should be extended to deal with public as well as private museums of the same kind. 2.For the purpose of increasing the diversity, a collection of sets of competence indexes obtained respectively from each museum should be firstly constructed. Then, based on some prescribed criteria, a set of conceivable indexes could be obtained from the collection to meet the requirement. 3.A survey of the public on the importance of each index of professional competence of docents has to be performed to fulfill the requirement of the marketing of museums.
