The thesis also discussed the influence of different variables such as: gender, , degree, academic preparation, year of teaching toward the inservice needs. A thorough literature review was conducted to acquired the related theoretical basis.The author developed the survey instrument according to some related researches. Samples of this study were 178 elementary science and life technology teachers of 19 schools in Tainan county. All the information acquired was analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA….etc. The research findings are presented as follows: 1. The purpose of most teachers’ joining inservice education is to receive degree. 2. Teachers like to join inservice education in summer or winter break best. 3. Most teachers wished the government can give them the cost of joining inservice education. 4. There was significant difference in the need of inservice type and inservice time between teachers of different background. 5. In Tainan , teachers who teaching nature science and life technology think it is necessary to join inservice education. 6. There was significant difference in the need of total questionnaire between teachers of different background .
