The objective was to find the optimal operating conditions and to reduce the composting time. The experimental results showed that the optimal operating conditions were as follows: air rate1.2L air/kg dry solid-min, recycle ration 16~32% and agitation frequency1/2.This results showed that food waste could be totally biodegraded within 3-4 day in a laboratory reactor. The peak temperature were between 50 and 60 oC, the carbon dioxide production rates were 12~16 grams per kilograms of volatile matters per hour. The average decomposition of total volatile solids loss was 25%. The empirical kinetic model was described by an autocatalytic decomposition equation , which is written as . This thesis showed that food waste could be composted within 3-4 day in a laboratory reactor. The results shall be useful for improving commercial process. I.C.Chang 張一岑 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 139 zh-TW
