Thus we investigate consumers buying behavior and the proficiency of basic knowledge of earthquake insurances, and survey 339 church members and bank employees. Based on Kotler’s theory of consumer behavior, the study explores the associations among insurance knowledge, purchase intention, demographic variables and other explanatory variables, such as gender, education level, and housing history. We finds that: 1.Insurance knowledge is correlated with age and average monthly income. Purchase intention is associated with gender, education level, marital status, average monthly income, housing history, housing possession condition, and experience of property insurance. 2.For purchase intention, females are more likely to purchase the policy than males; the consumers with college degree and below tend to purchase the policy more willingly than the consumers with master degree and above; the residents whose housing history is 11~15 years tend to purchase the policy more willingly than those whose housing history is less than five years. 3.Education level and average monthly income are associated with insurance knowledge test. People with master degree and above get higher scores than people with college degree and below; people with average monthly income more than 80,000 get higher scores than people with average monthly income between 20,000 and 29,000. Results indicate that average consumers do possess some basic knowledge of earthquake insurance. If insurance sales representatives educate the consumers about the insurance knowledge, the policy purchase rate will increase Hsien-Chueh Peter Yang 楊顯爵 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 123 zh-TW
