At the same time, investigate correlative factors on such textbook selection. At last, suggestion would be made to educational administration department, school administrative personnel and teachers on the professional knowledge and capabilities for textbook selection, in order to enhance optimum and rationality on textbook selection, lead to better teaching outcome. To procure above targets, this study has based and discussed findings on the issue of situation of textbook selection, method of textbook selection and standard of textbook selection. Running survey to elementary school teachers in Hsin-Chu County by using the (Diagram Of Knowledge And Capabilities Of Textbook Selection For Elementary School Teacher). 590 Random sample were extracted from elementary school directors and teachers. Actual reclaim of samples are 554, rate of reclaim is 93.9%. All quantitative data will be analyzed via SPSS, 11.0. This study has found: 1. Positive phenomenon has occurred at the present situation on textbook selection and cognition of professional knowledge and capabilities for textbook selection amount the teachers in Hsin-Chu County. 2. To which, in each background items, teachers who is male, entitled administrative duty (director), longer length of service (above 31 years), senior teachers (above 51 years old) has higher score and more positive opinion. 3. From the analyze of professional knowledge and capabilities of textbook selection for elementary school teacher we found: teaching tactic, teaching evaluation, mentality of students and their needs for study, textbook content evaluation and fragment of textbook publisher are the compass of textbook selection, that is to say these should be the knowledge and capabilities for a teacher. 4. From the analyze of correlative factors on textbook selection for elementary school teacher we found: most elementary school teachers agreed that factors like (curriculum connection), (last semester edition), (educational concept of one), (suggestion and advice from other teachers), (enactment of textbook selection), (whether publisher would apply teaching props), (time of selection), (opinion from parents) are the main influences for teachers. 5. Differences has appeared on the influences factors on textbook selection for elementary teachers, to which, a further study would be necessity. Base on the result above, specific suggestions are made on the issue of professional knowledge and capabilities on textbook selection for elementary school teachers.
