Yet, more and more renowned travel attractions and hotels are using information technology, assisted by the everywhere reachable Internet, to provide virtual reality techniques for customers to exploit, so as to shock off hampers of the low atmosphere and tout for more tourists; a lot of domestic industries have also exploited this technique to emphasize their overall competitiveness. The Ministry of National Defense has, in coping with the territory development plan, clearly defined land use against land for national defense and land for training. For a long time, the forces manage the land use of all kind of places by paper documentations, which is in fact the most common way of managing means within all units in the country’s armed forces. This kind of managing means, while information and data are all being prepared, can only facilitate the headquarters for annual task inspections; it is not helpful at all to units who want to actually choose a place for training – especially for the far away troop who needs to send someone, from far faraway, to make site survey of the training location and the routes so as to conduct effectiveness assessment and function certification. The Armed Forces has been promoting training safety for years, but there still lack a replacing solution for this kind of repetitive and long journeyed surveys. Based on this fact, as the Forces is emphasizing “digitize and being informative”, the most important task of today for preparing the training shall be to utilize the matured information technique for combining military field management with the user training units, so as to assist the unit fully understand the training field without personally being to the place. This thesis, by referring to use of image-based virtual reality on location display accomplished by local and foreign industries and comparing with the present situation of military field management, has designed a development process suitable for assisting the Armed Forces to develop relative military field management. The present status and practices of military field management are examined in the context; also proposed to plan a develop module for military field management system by the Rational Unified Process and concluded pros and cons on the effectiveness analysis of using the image-based virtual reality for the military field management by the Armed Forces, so as to provide as a reference for the developing unit. The image-based virtual reality type of military field management presented in this thesis is meant for providing reference and application for the Armed Forces in developing a military field management system in the future. By applying this kind of systems, savings on expenditures for traveling between the unit and the training location can be achieved, unnecessary risks prior to training can be eliminated and multi-choice for the training unit’s alternatives can be improved as well as the principle of “training safety” and the spirit of “industry and thrift built up the Armed Forces” can all be complied with. 碩士 === 國防管理學院 === 國防資訊研究所 === 91 === Pressure came from global stagnation is quite sensible on industries within the country, even the international travel industry suffers from this depression.
