| Summary: | 碩士 === 國防管理學院 === 資源管理研究所 === 91 === This paper is primarily concerned with the information content of national defense reports of the ROC and the PRC. To systematically address this issue in depth, both form-orientated and meaning-orientated methods are used in this research. Using a variety of analyses, this study reaches the following major conclusions. First, national defense reports of both the ROC and the PRC changes in content across time for almost every my test metric. Second, differences in defense report content are found for some test metrics between before and after the imposition of the related law, and between Periods administration periods of civilian-identity and military-identity ministers of defense. Finally, my findings provide some evidence indicating that defense reports under different ruling parties convey some information dissonance. In addition, some limitations are provided and suggestions are made for future research in this area
