Thirty subjects including 15 males and 15 females participated in experiment 1 in which MVC and time needed to reach different levels of exertion were measured using 4 levels of pinch span (2, 4, 6, and 8 cm) and 3 levels of wrist posture (neutral, maximal extension (ME), and maximal flexion (MF)). Results indicate that females performed MVC was general 60% of male and the greatest MVC was occurred on neutral. MVC of pinch span had an increasing tendency on both postures of neutral and ME. As to time needed to reach different levels of exertion, we divided time from initial to reach MVC into 10 levels with an increment of time needed to increase every 10%MVC. We found that it took longer time on the later period of exertion, say after 70%MVC. Furthermore, 20 subjects took part in the second experiment in which 3 kinds of gloves were assessed, and bare hand as well. The response variables were the same as those in previous experiment. Results indicate that female performed MVC was 54% of male, and gloves didn’t have significant effect on pinch exertion and time needed to reach different levels of exertion. Finally, experiment 3 was conducted to investigate the operation performances of four types of tasks under using the same gloves in the preceding experiment. The results reveal that gloves indeed reduced the performance as compared with bare hand. The above information would be helpful in the equipment/tool/task design and/or operator selection/screen. Keywords:pinch strength、maximum volitional contraction、pinch span、maximum wrist extension/flexion、gloves Yuh-Chuan Shih 石裕川 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 0 zh-TW
