The related literature suggests that understanding the cause of life satisfaction should be very important in order to effectively facilitate the satisfaction. The present study is to target at exploring correlates (including demographic variables, health status, flow experience, leisure satisfaction) of life satisfaction.
Forty-eight female and 74 male (mean age being 78.31 from 65 to 92) who have resided in nusing home for six months or over volunteer for the study, and they are interviewed daily with revised Experience Sampling Method. So to speak, they are interviewed once a day, and it lasts for a whole weeken. Data collected from four instruments (i.e., Demographic Information Sheet, Flow Questionnaire, Leisure Satisfaction Scale and Life Satisfaction Index A) are analyzed using multiple regression with SPSS 10.0. Findings based upon the analysis indicate that the predictors of life satisfaction include health status and leisure satisfaction (βhealth= 0.53; βleisure= 0.46; R²= 0.89); however, flow experience positively related to leisure satisfaction (r= 0.94; p< 0.01). In other words, health status, flow experience and leisure satisfaction may simultaneously significantly contribute to life satisfaction. Furthermore, the implications of the findings are discussed in the study.
