In previous approaches for virtual reality, there are many different panoramic constructive principles and techniques, but the ways of browsing panoramic images are almost the same. Most browsers only provide users to observe scenes from different view angles, but at the same view point. This paper try to use panoramic array to create virtual reality, and try to let users move freely in certain region. First, this paper analyzes the characteristics to construct panoramic images and create a panoramic browser. Second, this paper proposed a technique using panoramic array that enable users to move freely in certain region. In the first step, we construct a panoramic image at each corner of a triangle. In the second step, we try to find corresponding points among these panoramic images. In the third step, according to user’s orientation and position, we try to interpolate the required view accordingly. Compared to traditional virtual reality systems which only provide views from a fixed view point. The proposed panoramic array reduce the required space greatly, and provide a better way to browse panoramic scenes on the internet. Our system can provide a virtual environment users can navigate freely in certain region.
