碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 企業管理學系 === 91 === Key Success Factors on Library Moving in Taiwan’s universities and colleges Abstract The advance on IT, Internet, globalization, and diversity make the information overload and have recast the role of library. Librarians are likely to encounter challenges on growing collections and proving tremendous service. And thus often make library space and layout to have reengineering or eventually expand library building, quite often in the university and college libraries. Moving a library is a mammoth task and requires a specialized methodology. The key success factor (KSF) on library moving should be emphasized, but few academic literatures address this issue. Most articles on the topic are shown as general stories. This project will list some activities and performance indexes on library moving, identified from literatures and being reviewed their content validity by professional librarians, to do questionnaire in 156 university and college libraries in Taiwan. The experience of moving library, the comments on list items, and the background information of reviewer are asked to fill in on a questionnaire. Fill-in data will be processed by a statistical tool, SPSS, to identify KSFs on library moving. Furthermore, a moving guide for academic libraries will be puzzled out, and a general story on library moving in Taiwan’s academic libraries is also provided. According to the result of the questionnaire, the measure factors of library moving are the total time of moving work, error of book shelving , apply of human resources, apply of outlay and unexpected situation. The most important factors on library moving are the short moving time and the small error of book shelving. According to the viewpoint of librarian, the most important factors on library moving are the planning of human resources, the planning of collection, the planning of moving way, the preparation of book shelving and , the planning of time. Compare with the four phases of library moving, the most important stage is planning period. For the perspective of library moving, the backgrounds of library and librarian have not remarkable deviation except the working experience of librarian and the background of public library or private library. According to the result of the study, the success factors of library moving are: (1) at planning period: the plan of outlay; the influence of the total time of moving work and the human resources; the influence for the planning of total moving time to outlay and human resources; the influence for the planning of collection to the unexpected situation and book shelving; the moving line and the planning of collection; the planning of the way of moving. (2) at performing period: the influence for the each work to the unexpected situation; the total time of moving work and human resources; the security problem at library moving duration; the influence for the performance to book shelving at library moving duration; the relative problem of entrust; the problem of the connection of work and the outlay. (3) at preposition period: the measure of service way and emergency step at library moving duration; the planning of allocation before library moving; the preparation of preposition before library moving; the choice of the moving way before library moving; the influence for the preparation of preposition to outlay and human resources. (4) at participation period: communication and participation; encourage and solicitude; allot job rationally; strive for support.
