| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 91 === The aim of the study was to explore the effects of the psycho-education treatment on a female junior high student with mild mental retardation. The study expected that the case will have the self-control ability after guidance to avoid the unexpected behavior by herself in order to reach the positive behavior performance.
The study adopted the case study method. From the literature review on personality characteristics causes, motivations and guidance strategies of sexual offenders, the background factors of the general sexual offenders were understood.
The researcher collected the interview information, guidance and medical records about the case for diagnosing and analyzing the factors affecting the case. A sex education program and the strategies of behavior modification were developed in the study. In addition, the research implemented 10 weeks’ psycho-education treatment for the case. The assessment forms were used in order to have an objective assessment. To compare the differences between the results of pre-test and the post-test, the researcher assessed the treatment’s effects after the psycho-education treatment. The researcher also followed up the case for one month to determine the maintenance effects of the treatment programs.
The findings of the study were as follows:
(1) The case got damage on the left part of forehead; therefore, her psychology has the tendency toward antisocial personality.
(2) The factors which affected the sexual offense for the case have ten personality’s factors; eight motivation factors, five environmental factors and six other possible factors.
(3) After the ten weeks’ teaching intervention, the average corrective rates on the case’s sex knowledge and sex attitude had significantly improved.
(4) After the ten weeks’ behavior modification training, the case’s unexpected behavior has been lessened and the case has rebuilt a positive sex attitude.
(5) The outcomes of the case’s sex education and behavior modification had the maintenance effects.
According to the results of study, some recommendations were provided for assisting similar cases in the future.
