Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 數學教育研究所 === 91 === The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the calculator activities can help two fifth graders to develop number sense or not. The research study is a case study and it applied interview technique to collect data. The procedures included three parts: pre-interview, calculator activities were used to help children develop number sense and post-interview. The pre-interview results showed that the two students were lack of the ability of estimation, benchmarks, recognizing number patterns, understanding the relative effects of operation on numbers. During the teaching of calculator activities the two students learned how to use the characteristics of number sense to solve problems. The results of post-interview indicated that students could use the characteristics of number sense, such as recognizing number patterns, understanding the relative effects of operation on numbers, yet they still can not apply the benchmarks to estimate. In summary, the results of this study demonstrated that integrated calculator activities can help children develop number sense except the use of benchmarks to estimate.
