Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 科學教育研究所 === 91 === This study proposes a revised learning cycle model designed to teach 6th grade controversial issues in science and technology. This revised model includes exploration phase, term introduction phase, clarification phase and application phase. Based on the revised model, the researcher developed a 2-week unit of controversial issue about Genetically Modified Organism for a science teacher to teach 6th students. Two science classes are studied using identical content, but in different pedagogical orientations. One class was taught using the revised model and one was taught using the conventional approach of the 6th science teacher. Data sources include questionnaires, field observations, and the researcher’s log reports. The results shows that students who use the revised model does not differ significantly from the control group in the knowledge about the issue. Nevertheless, the experimental group outperforms the control group in student-teacher interaction. Moreover, the teacher and the class in this model all like the teaching approach.
