One of the key difficulty is the formation of stagnant zones of filter granules. When stagnant zones exist, the dusts coming with flue gas may plug the system and the filtration efficiency decreases remarkably. Putting inserts into the convergent channel between louvers was proven to be an appropriate solution to diminish the stagnant zones. We have successfully design the louver-insert configuration according to the flow property measurement of the filter granules. A 3D cold test facility was built using the design configuration. A dust generator has been used in this project in order to run the cold model test. The cold tests include the filtration efficiency and the moving bed pressure drop measurements. The filter granular circulation rate, the inlet gas velocity and the dust cake are important factors influencing the filtration efficiency.
