The technology combining geographic information systems (GIS) provides replicating real-world objects maximizes the user’s experience within an interactive synthetic environment. Moreover, queries in GIS play an important role. Traditionally, queries are mainly in two-dimensional style. It will be a great challenge to directly present queries for GIS data within a 3-D synthetic environment. In this paper, we presented a platform to construct a virtual environment using synthetic environment data representation and interchange specification (SEDRIS) and provide a system to query attributes of the objects contained in the virtual environment. The data representation model of SEDRIS is a software engineering technique for unambiguously articulating information about the data within our real world. In this study, we will utilize this technique to unambiguously represent 3-D objects and its attributes to archive a virtual environment construction. Din-Chang Tseng 曾定章 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 88 en_US
