碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 音樂研究所 === 91 === This thesis consists of two parts; one is the orchestral work, the other is the discussion of the compositional idea and its realization in the work. This piece presents the life reflection induced from the seasonal transition. The essay deals with the compositional idea and deals with the aesthetic basis for the composition, the relation among the oriental and western musical thought-branches, and the analysis or comprehensive description of the individual movements in relation to the totality of the piece. The manner of expression is influenced by research into and realization of the Taoist life view of “virtual spirit”, existentialist philosophy, and its attendant aesthetics. It is expected that with the silent call of the earth, the orchestral work “The Autumn Thoughts” will be composed accordingly.
