We replace the traditional analog radio communication with the digital wireless communication. Transmitting the position information and the flight parameters of UAV to ground computer by GPRS wireless communication is the major action in this thesis. We can real-time receive the flight conditions of UAV. FPGA processes the information from GPS receiver and decodes what we need. FPGA sends the position data to DSP and then transforms the control command from DSP into PWM signal. Finally, FPGA sends the PWM control command to servo motor and GPRS transmission device in order to control the servo motor and also transmit the servo motor angle to ground computer.
After many experiments, we proof the feasibility of replacing radio communication with GPRS wireless communication. Now the system is still in one-way communication, two-way communication between UAV and ground computer is the next design target in the near future.
