Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 建築學系碩博士班 === 91 === According to the different sources, the Architectural works of exposed concrete in Taiwan also can be classified. The Architects from Europe into Taiwan were introduced by the catholic missionary, and maintained the use of exposed concrete plates in the way of Brutalism. With advantage in geography, Japan still kept good communication with Taiwan after the Japanese Colonial period, and Japanese Architects such as Junzo Sakakura and Kenzo Tange naturally became the models for the Architects of Taiwan in the 60’s , who were longing to find “New Chinese Style”. So far as the effect of the Unites States is concerned, it included the meaning of modernization behind U.S. Aid, and through the efforts of I.M. Pei, C.K. Chang, and other architects, there were several excellent works created. However, besides the representation of Chinese traditional elements physically, the American architects adopted the skill from masters of modern architecture. The architecture of exposed concrete in Taiwan today no longer bears the responsibility of transferring “New Chinese Style”, but face the material in different attitudes. Following the regionalism, one line depends on the natural texture of exposed concrete, and hopes to search the harmonizing elements between new and old in the process of discussing regional culture. Another line being based on elite consciousness expresses admiration for the pureness of exposed concrete, and regards it as a kind of modern material, just like steel and glass.
