Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 化學系專班 === 91 === Octacosanol is one of the natural aliphatic alcohols and is mainly in sugar cane wax and wheat germ oil. Its biological effect is to increase the strength and metabolic activity of muscles, and it has been developed as a food supplement. CO2 has been widely used in the Supercritical Fluid Extraction System. It has both the properties of a liquid and a gas such as a high rate of diffusion and low viscosity. In addition, it does not pollute, is not flammable, and is highly selective. By changing the temperature and pressure in the CO2 Supercritical Fluid Extraction System, one can provide different extraction conditions. Currently, the solid waste of bagasse and filter cake from the sugar cane grinding process at Taiwan Sugar Corp. is used mainly as compost fertilizer. Since the sugar cane wax does not easily decompose in the soil and get absorbed by plantsas to reduce the fertilizing effect of the sugar cane. In this research, we used the Supercritical Fluid Extraction System to extract octacosanol from the filter cake of sugar cane and optimized the extraction conditions. We found the best condition is at 60℃, 3000psi with CO2 flow rate 4.5 NL/min and 30min of mixing time. The ultimate goal is to get more value-added octacosanol from the solid waste of sugar cane.
