Mobility management in heterogeneous wireless network includes three issues, location management, address management and handoff management. Our scheme focuses on handoff management. In heterogeneous wireless network, in which WLANs, GPRS, UMTS and Satellite System works operate alongside each other, a multimode terminal is needed for user to access all the different kinds of wireless network. In this paper, an adaptive fuzzy logic based handoff scheme is proposed to select and re-select a suitable wireless network. The scheme considers four criteria, including signal strength, number of available channels, bandwidth utilization and handoff call dropped probability of each wireless network.
