In accordance with the above knowledge economy, information professionals should also interchange knowledge to enhance their technological and managerial skills. However, effective knowledge sharing in a corporation would never be attained without taking its organizational culture into account. In order to specify the relationship between organizational culture and knowledge sharing intensions for IS professionals, the study applies Competing Value Approach to explore the possible outcomes of knowledge sharing within development culture, rational culture, hierarchical culture and consensual culture. Hypothesis of sharing various knowledge types in terms of implicit/explicit and know-that/know-how dimensions for each culture are also derived for validation. The results show that consensual culture significantly encourages information professionals to share personal knowledge, and the hypothesis of lowered knowledge sharing intensions in rational culture is also supported. However, we also find knowledge sharing intentions of observers were not raised even if organizations had put lot efforts in promoting knowledge management activities.
