The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between food intake and oral health condition in elementary school students. The data was retrieved from a national nutrition survey study. Each participant received a dental examination and completed a questionnaire related to food intake. And the dental examination standardized by WHO’s method. The results showed that the mean DMFT of 12 years old is 2.74(±4.03) , it is lower than the object of WHO in 2000. But the caries prevalence rate (CPR) of 6 years old is 85.15%, it’s much higher than the object of WHO in 2000, 50%. Besides, the CPR in other age levels were all higher than 74%. Many kinds of food which are related to different level of sugar were correlated with dental caries. Children with high intake of sweet drink and sugar had higher DMFT and deft index. Furthermore, higher intake of calcium-contained food, milk, and cheese was associated with lower the DMFT index. Besides, higher intake of calcium-contained food or lesser intake of meat, cookies and sugar was associated with lower the 1st permanent molar decayed. Generally speaking, the male oral condition in elementary school students is better than female. Besides, the CPR in the east Taiwan is higher than other areas, the restoration rate is opposite. It shows that the medical resourses and oral healthy concept are lack in that area. Tien-Yu Shieh 謝天渝 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 114 zh-TW |

碩士 === 高雄醫學大學 === 口腔衛生科學研究所 === 91 === Abstract
The relationship between dietary intake and oral health condition was reported in many places. However, there have not been reached an emerging conclusion. More specifically, the association between sugar consumption and caries has yet been quantified.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between food intake and oral health condition in elementary school students. The data was retrieved from a national nutrition survey study. Each participant received a dental examination and completed a questionnaire related to food intake. And the dental examination standardized by WHO’s method.
The results showed that the mean DMFT of 12 years old is 2.74(±4.03)
, it is lower than the object of WHO in 2000.
