According to past research, the proportion of successful new product development is significant low. The purpose of this research is to discuss the characteristics (or traits) of information processing and indicators of development performance measurement during new product development process. We focus on the projects that were held by Note Book (NB) Industry that is a high potential industry of 21 century. Moreover, we found that different operational model (OBM/ODM/OEM) will impact on those factors we discuss in NB Industry. The result has discovered that the new product development process of NB Industry can be separated into four stages that were named idea generation, product development, manufacturing engineering and commercialization and each stage includes distinct activities. Then we research other variables by each stage under different operational model. Characteristics of information processing include two kinds of main traits─orientation (information type and information source) and degree of abundance (amount of gatekeepers and information sources and frequency of information processing) of information processing. This research has discovered that information processing traits and indicators of development performance measurement depend upon activities of new product development stage, and activities also depend on operational models. In detail, we found that orientation of information is related to attributes of activities, and degree of abundance of information processing is related to amount of activities. Otherwise, we found that the project use subjective indicators of performance measurement in early stages more frequent than in late development stage.
