碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 圖書資訊學系 === 91 === To keep pace with the rapid technology development, library and information services must endeavor to be everchanging both in the business operations and the service patterns. Network is already an important part of life in modern society. The " Digital Library " is unavoidable path for the library development to go. For this goal, and for the sake of meeting the demands, as well as going with the characteristics of the young users of this "E-Generation", the first action taken by libraries is to provide these users with an appropriate home page, intending to use it as the starting point for library online services. The following are the primary findings for this research: 1.Library home pages for children can not only be used for hyperlinks but also for announcements, advertisements, and promotion for library services. 2.From children''s information seeking behavior in the environment with online catalogs, electronic encyclopedias, multi-media materials, internet and the other electronic resources, it is observable that they still need help, especially in the aspects of selection, decision making, and judgment. Their criteria for selection and use patterns and habit should be the base for the planning and implementation of library home page for children. 3.Domestic and abroad, library home pages for children differ in functions for searching. Up to the present, most of the domestic ones follow the same rules for designing home pages for adults, while those abroad tend to start with a pattern designed particularly for children. On the other hand, in Taiwan, most of library home pages for children carry the WebPAC search function, while most of those in other areas have not yet the WebPAC particularly designed for children.
