However, the type of media has been changed with the development of information technology; for example, biomedical journals have evolved from printed forms to Internet-based forms. It offers the speed of information delivery and the handy access . For biomedical researchers, it becomes a very useful tool in doing research. In this study, the researcher used survey method to analyze biomedical electronic journals usage by graduate students in medical and life sciences. And some suggestions were raised by users about the management issues of electronic journals. Eventually, the findings will be provided to the librarians offering electronic journal services. According to the data of 297 valid questionnaires, there are several findings: 1.The biomedical electronic journals are used by nearly 80% of graduate students on a regular basis; there are 50% of them would read the electronic journals more than twice a week, and there are 20% of them would read the journals everyday. 2.The biggest barrier of using the electronic journal is that journals must be obtained by subscription or payment, and there are more than 70% of graduate students would solve this problem by using the resources from other schools. 3.There are some difference experience of the biomedical electronic journal usage between graduate students in medical and life sciences, for example, the frequency of using biomedical electronic journals of graduate students in life sciences is higher than those in medicine. 4.Most students express that they would use both of electronic journals and print journals. It shows that there are still some defects in using electronic journals. For example, incomplete volumes, connecting is not easy, and speed of access is slow, etc. As a result, the researcher suggests that the graphic presentation quality of biomedical electronic journals could be improved; the full-text articles should be accessed globally; the speed of making information up-to-date should be faster; and the principle of payment should be more reasonable. Besides, improving the quality of Internet transmission and releasing the limits can make the electronic journals more accessible. The librarians should integrate the catalogs, databases and websites of biomedical electronic journals through the same interface in order to search information easily. Moreover, graduate students should communicate with librarians, and offer more opinions for a better service to satisfy the users'' needs. 蘇諼 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 114 zh-TW |

碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 圖書資訊學系 === 91 === Nowadays, the journal article has been the major information resource for biomedical researchers.
According to the data of 297 valid questionnaires, there are several findings:
1.The biomedical electronic journals are used by nearly 80% of
graduate students on a regular basis; there are 50% of them
would read the electronic journals more than twice a week,
and there are 20% of them would read the journals everyday.
2.The biggest barrier of using the electronic journal is that
journals must be obtained by subscription or payment, and
there are more than 70% of graduate students would solve this
problem by using the resources from other schools.
3.There are some difference experience of the biomedical
electronic journal usage between graduate students in
medical and life sciences, for example, the frequency of
using biomedical electronic journals of graduate students in
life sciences is higher than those in medicine.
4.Most students express that they would use both of electronic
journals and print journals. It shows that there are still
some defects in using electronic journals. For example,
incomplete volumes, connecting is not easy, and speed of
access is slow, etc.
