Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 化學系 === 91 === Traditional Chinese herbal medicine has long enjoyed the reputation of the world''s most advanced system of natural medicine, but it requires the scientific methodology to integrate it into orthodox Western medicine. The widely practiced component analysis following herbal extraction is apparently an endeavor geared toward that goal.
Pinellia ternate, the common medicinal plant under current study for its wide availability and low cost, is found to be antitussive, expectorant, antiemetic and anodyne for efficacy. Constituent analysis may provide information on its origin and ways of preparation. In this study, an attempt to assay its electrochemically active ingredients--homogentisic acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, methionine, guanosine, ephedrine and glycine--on a chemical chip may eventually lead to a routine analysis.
The current technology of microfluidics as grown out of the much publicized micro electromechanical system (MEMS) has promised the success of the micro capillary electrophoresis (μCE): running capillary electrophoresis in the micron-scale trench on glass with the benefits of speed, nano-sized sample required, sensitive on-the-chip electrochemical detection. The current state of the art involving the optimized sonic extraction followed by analysis onμCE has achieved adequate resolution and super sensitivity.
