Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 資訊工程所 === 91 === Because of the proposed standard of wireless local area network (WLAN), the provisioning of wireless Internet access in public place is more and more common. Many enterprises and organizations adopt WLAN to provide the service of wireless Internet access to their users. Users can access network resources everywhere and anytime if they want, and by this way to increase the throughput of their work. When the scale of the deployment of WLAN becomes larger and larger, the management issues become more complicated too. When a part of users cannot access network normally in a large-scale WLAN, network administrators must spend much time and efford to find out what is wrong or which access point is malfunctional. So a network management system is essential to help network administrators to perform the network management task. We studied the characteristics and properties of WLAN to develop a network management system that is suited for managing WLAN. We implemented a visual management system for the environment of WLAN. We selected some important network management information that is relevant for managing WLAN. Our system will retrieve the information from the managed WLAN per fixed time interval, and then store the information in the network management database. The visualization engine of our system will represent the network management information to the network administrators. Our system can help the network administrator to monitor the overall status of managed WLAN, and find out problems quickly. Our system can also apply to network planning.
