碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 建築與都市計畫所 === 91 === Summary Globalization and knowledge-based economy has become more and more important .The number of technical emigrants to Taiwan has also risen in recent decades due to increasing internationalization. However, questions such as “do foreigners satisfy with their daily lives in Taichung and Taiwan? Are Taichung and Taiwan convenient and friendly places for dining, clothing, shopping, housing, transportation, child care, education, entertainment and other needs (DCSHTC)?” were hardly studied in a systematic fashion. This study sampled foreigners residing in the Taichung region on their DCSHTC satisfaction level. It is found that it’s convenient for foreigner on shopping and dining. The most inconvenient parts are transportation, the quality of environment and English identifiable system. As an exploratory study, the results of this study can assist Taiwan’s decision-makers in gaining a better understanding of the needs of residents from other countries. Hopefully, through better understanding of such needs, Taichung City and Taiwan will become more friendly places for international visitors to come to.
