This paper has presented a new design of VDS that could play a key role during distribution process of various vehicles. The VDS is a kind of ITS which is composed by a PC-Based VCC and a VDT. The VCC has a dedicated software that supports dispatching and monitoring fleet of all kinds of vehicles. VDT is an on-vehicle display and control unit that supports the communication and even other growth capability between driver and VCC. For the purpose of encouraging domestic enterprises to adopt this ITS product, this paper has researched and discussed how to integrate GPS, communication interface compatibility, GIS, small dimension, economic cost, flexibility …etc. By using a RTOS Software and CPLD to control various of input/output signals from different devices including GPS, Trunking Radio and GSM communication system flexibly, this paper has been designed a advanced VDT. This VDS product has been used practically and verified to fully meet the original design concept.
