| Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 土木及水利工程所 === 91 === In this thesis, the fundamental theorem and the evolution of the design procedure for the pumping system of buildings are reviewed, discussed and assessed. The advantages and disadvantages of the new design procedure of the Taiwan Water Supply Corporation are concluded, and the modification methods for the disadvantages are also given. Two sets of practical examples are used to show the blind spots of the general consulting firms. It is found that
（1）the commercial pipe diameter should be carefully selected in a right way,
（2）Jeng and Cheng’s formula for the ratio of the pumping head to the elevation head is accurate and strongly recommended, and
（3）the system design procedure, given in the thesis, should be very helpful for the design work.
