Recently, people take more interest in the issue of the waste landfill construction. Due to the lack of careful and thoroughful construction plan, and also incompetent in the treatment, it causes many problems in the domestic landfill sites here.
Geomembrane takes a major role in the waterproof system in a landfill. To keep the integrity of landfill functions without leakage and environmental pollution, during the process of material selection design as well as construction stages it is vital important to take good concern in the associated engineering characteristic of material use slope stability problems and construction procedures. This paper aims to study the problems of the domestic sanitary landfill lining system, and focus on the lining material in design as well as construction stages, and some comparison was made by using local field cases here in Taiwan and follows by proposing s0me suggestions in this subject.
From field cases study, this paper urges that most of the domestic landfills require some kinds of major repairs and adjustment. It is obvious that there is imperious want to put large effort to review and revise the laws as well as regulations about sanitary landfill and the related design works. In other word, to enforce the associate regulations inspection methods as well as law is the fist priority to rectify chaotic situation occurred in this particular area. The fundamental and effective means to solve the above mentioned problems are to provide those designers as well as contractors solid firm and appropriate regulations and also verify techniques for inspection.
