Bridge structure is often used in those projects. The critical activity for construction a bridge is the foundation construction. In foundation construction, pile casing is usually the first activity to be performed. Among different type of pile casing, all-casing pile is quite common used. The operations of all-casing pile include position, driving piles, as well as concrete placing that form the cyclic operations. Discrete event simulation technique is suitable in the analysis of system performance for the cyclic operations. This research takes WH33 viaduct foundation construction project as example to analyze the production rate and unit cost for all-casing pile operations. The computer simulation software COST developed based on CYCLONE discrete simulation methodology is used for facilitating the analysis. Several resource combinations are examined for replacing the original resource allocation. Simulation analysis shows one type of resource allocation that can conduct a better system performance, i.e., lower unit cost and higher production rate.
