Description
Summary:碩士 === 中原大學 === 電機工程研究所 === 91 === The objective of the thesis is to use genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize layered video transmission system in lossy channels. Embedded bit streams can be produced with source encoder for realizing layered transmission system. Although the 3D SPIHT is effective for the implementation of layered transmission systems, its performance can be severely degraded when the bit streams are delivered over loss channels. A proper error protection scheme is therefore necessary for robust video transmission. The usual equal error protection schemes might not be suitable for the SPIHT-based system, because the significant of bit streams delivered in different layer in the system are not equal. So we use unequal error protection. In this thesis, we apply genetic algorithm (GA) to optimize allocation. Compared with iteration algorithm, the simulation demonstrates that it can improve the old method to reach optimal performance. Besides, the experiment use network simulator version 2 (NS-2) to simulate the Internet environment. The experimental result also shows that it is an effective tool for Internet research.
