Since 1997, a lot of researches and resources have been invested in Taiwan, as result that TFT-LCD video monitor manufacturing will still be a very important industry in Taiwan beside semiconductor manufacturing. Last two decades, the computer video monitor use CRT (Cathode-Ray Tube) to display characters and images. In the past five years the TFT-LCD video monitor start developing. and commercialized 2 years ago. The business for video monitor largely came from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) companies. During this period under our own research development and technical authorizations by OEM companies. Both technology and manufacturing capability have improved significantly, beside that the value chain was developed also, so that Taiwan has become well known in the world. However, during this period, the competition became very bloody. There were 30 companies in the market twenty years ago, and now there are only 5 to 6 companies survived. The decisive factor is the “business strategy”of how to utilize company resources, and develop the core technology and key component for color CRT. This case study is trying to help people to learn from the “A” company’s previous CRT monitor business development experience and take advices from them. This study also analyze business strategy for multinational manufacturing supply chain management, to explore what their competition advantages and core resources are? It is expect that, the result can help enterprises that wish to build a successful business strategy for the new generation of TFT-LCD video monitor business investment.
