Summary: | 碩士 === 中原大學 === 化學工程研究所 === 91 === This research was to fabricate the photoactive TiO2 paper sheet and TiO2-coated nonwoven fiber cloth for air cleaning and to further assess the capabilities of photocatalyst-coated material for IPA. Two different kinds of TiO2, P25 and ST01, were used and activated carbon was chosen to detect any synergistic effect between powdered TiO2 and powdered AC for photodecomposition of isopropanol.
For the paper, there was an optimum condition of reaction temperature, water vapor and oxygen content of carrier gas at P25 (9.37±0.01 g/m2) in a plug flow system. Moreover, the conversion efficiency of IPA increased with increasing flow rate but decreased with increasing initial concentrations. The ST-01 containing paper (10.24±0.01 g/m2) exhibited a higher efficiency for IPA removal than that of P-25 under the same experimental condition. In batch reactor system, an optimum of the synergy effect was found for a mass ratio (TiO2/AC) equal to (1/0.1) for P25 and the ratio corresponded to whether the particles of TiO2 were illuminated. However, the synergistic effect was not found obviously for the ST-01 containing paper.
For the nonwoven fiber cloth, the P-25 (8.45±0.01g/m2) coating demonstrated a higher efficiency for IPA removal as compared to the ST01 (9.82±0.01g/m2).
The irreversible reaction in series kinetic model was applied to simulate the photocatalytic decomposition of IPA in the batch reactor. Furthermore, the relation between TiO2 and AC can be described by the reaction constant k1 and k2.
