The first is to how to determine the structural topology that has highest designated natural frequency subject to the constraint of a limited volume of material. The other is how to determine the rib topology that strengthens the original structure dynamically. In order to answer these issues, a multi-stage topology optimization algorithm based upon the strategy of shrinking the design domain then reducing the large number of design variables of the structure in each optimized stages was developed. Three modules, a structural analysis code, an optimization subroutine and a topology algorithm were integrated as a single design system. This system provides a user-friendly environment for engineers to perform the multi-stage topology optimization easily. Not only the time consumed in the optimization process but also the sharpness of the final topology are much improved if the sensitivity of eigenvalue can be determined directly.
