Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中正大學 === 電機工程研究所 === 91 === In this thesis, we propose an MPLS router architecture to support Traffic Engineering and QoS assurance, and implement the Extensions to RSVP for LSP tunnels (RSVP-TE), a signaling protocol and label distribution protocol for MPLS, on IXP1200 EB network processor platform. First, we introduce what components are needed to support Traffic Engineering and QoS assurance in the MPLS network. We next describe the hardware and software in our prototype system. And then we propose our MPLS router architecture which can support Traffic Engineering and QoS assurance and its workflow. Furthermore, in order to play the role of signaling protocol and label distribution protocol for MPLS well, an open source RSVP-TE is extended in our MPLS route. Because we implement our MPLS router on the network processor, we also share our experience of porting RSVP-TE Daemon to the IXP1200 EB platform. Finally, we conduct validation tests by using Agilent RouterTester 900 to validate our RSVP-TE Daemon. We show that our RSVP-TE implementation passes the majority of test categories.
