Participants included the 2end- , 4th- and 6th- grade students, and their reading ability ranged from low, middle to high level. Students were instructed to make good stories out of materials provided which included sentences violated coherence principle. Students decided the sentences for deletion and their order to form good stories. Three dependent measures were computed: causal chain, local coherence, global coherence. The results indicated that causal knowledge was the same for low and high reading ability students. The middle reading ability students’ performance improved with grades. Further more, the development of local coherence ability improved with grades, and the development of global coherence ability was getting better between 2end- and 4th- grade, but not for 6th- grade. As reading ability increased, so did students’ causal knowledge, for local and global coherence ability measures.
