Description
Summary:碩士 === 國防大學中正理工學院 === 兵器系統工程研究所 === 91 === To investigate the vaporization phenomenon of the droplet stream passing through a pool fire, and to quantify the effect of the fire extinction proceeded by high speed water spray, a long narrow oil groove was fabricated to produce an experimental pool fire. The photography was used to record the procedure of the fire extinction. The photographical setup was assembled with the micro-lens, CCD camera, and DV video recorder. The droplet stream was generated by using the monodisperse droplet generator and spray of high pressure. The results show that: (1) The water droplets passing through the fire field will be vaporized. (2) While extinguishing the fire, there was a best efficiency when the spray holds on a particular height. (3) If the droplets had more vaporization, the vaporization was the main extinguisher; if the droplets had less vaporization, the air following the spray had better efficiency on extinguishing the fire when we used the droplet stream of the same mass flow rate. (4) If the water sprayed well, the efficiency of extinguishing the fire was better. Each size of flames needed different condition to extinguish the fire, but the functions extinguishing the fire were the same. If we could understand how the spray extinguishes the fire and made the best condition, the extinguishing efficiency would be increased.
