WCDMA utilizes the variable spreading gain, and several channel coding schemes with different error correction capability to provide various data rate and bit error rate guarantees. In the past, the bandwidth is the most important resource for wire-based system. But in the wireless system, the transmission power is more and more important. This thesis will focus on the downlink throughput analysis of the WCDMA environment. At beginning we describe the characteristic and the important parameters of WCDMA. Then we study on the channel coding performance that effect the maximum downlink throughput. After that we follow the downlink framework, and optimal the resource allocation to provide QoS guarantee to the applications in the system. Then we developed the WCDMA downlink throughput formula. We also analyzed the maximum downlink throughput effects from the multi-types applications. The result of the example calculation are shown and discussed, and at least the conclusion is given.
