However, many of these systems are OS based, and it is difficult for them to share data with each other. Fortunately, this problem can be easily solved via both XML (Extensible Markup Language) and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). An XML format is composed of common markup symbols, and it can be recognized by heterology structures and operation systems. Thus, via distributed object models in the XML format, we can make data exchange possible among heterology structures and operation systems. SOAP is an XML based protocol for accessing remote objects over the network. With the advantage of XML and SOAP, we can share data with others easily over the network. Thus, when we design a hospital information system, we should divide into two parts, particular applications and network ones. For example, if a routine is focus on the data share or exchange, we can choose a network application. On the contrary, if we emphasize the speed of data processing or use a particular data format, we can design a local application. Based on XML and SOAP and with a visual flow development language, Open- Flow, my research is focused on exchange methods of medical histories in the inner of the hospital or among different hospitals. Also, with the HL7 format, it is possible to share files of medical histories automatically among hospital servers through SOAP. In conclusion, my study helps to identify the flexibility of sharing medical information with each other over heterology structures and operation systems among different departments of a hospital or among members of a hospital league.
