The volume of bowl type heat sink here is smaller than fin type heat sink. From numerical simulation, heat dissipation performance of copper is enormously better than that of aluminum. The main work of this research is to proceed of: 1. Manufacture the bowl type heat sink with holes and experimentally measure the thermal resistance of heat sink. 2. Improve appearance of heat sink, use the I-DEAS program to conduct simulation, and obtain the optimized design. 3. Utilize different parameters of dimension to optimization. Simulation results in chapter four are divided into two parts. The conclusion of eight kinds of ideas and rough comparison are listed in part one briefly to be a reference. In part two, the arrangement of holes is circular instead of the rectangular arrangement of part one. The former has not only lower thermal resistance but also less material. By the remarkable comparison, furthermore reducing the diameter will apparently decrease thermal resistance. From simulation results find, the thermal resistance will be reduced if air flow-rate becomes larger and larger. And thermal resistance of copper heat sink is always lower than that of aluminum one.
